SHEFFIELD FIRM PUTS SAFETY FIRST

A SHEFFIELD sign firm is hoping to stay one step ahead of its rivals
A SHEFFIELD sign firm is hoping to stay one step ahead of its rivals by putting safety at the top of its agenda.

FASTSIGNS® Sheffield specialises in creating signs and banners of every description and size. As part of its service the company frequently installs products on buildings which have not yet been completed.

The firm’s boss Paul Allison decided that in order to offer the best service to his customers he would put his staff through a specialist construction industry training scheme.

Matthew Ball, operations manager at FASTSIGNS, has successfully taken part in the Site Manager Training Scheme. Now FASTSIGNS has a better understanding of the construction industry and what is required on site to meet health and safety legislation.

Matthew explained the thinking behind taking part in the scheme. He said: “The Site Manager Safety Training Scheme is a five day course and without doubt puts us in a good position to advise customers within the construction industry and understand what they need. I can talk with site managers on the best ways of ensuring our installation process is safe and efficient.

“I can also identify and avoid potential hazards on site, prepare method statements, risk assessments and other statutory requirements to make sure we comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act.”

Paul Allison, who is a director at FASTSIGNS Sheffield, said: “Although FASTSIGNS is not a building contractor and our staff are not required by law to take this certificate we wanted to offer additional benefits to our many customers in the construction industry.

“We asked Matt to go through the training so that our customers who are working on building sites can be confident about FASTSIGNS’ ability to safely supervise sign installations on their sites.”

Mr Allison added: “The safety of our workers, customers and subcontractors has always been our top priority. Added to that it has always been part of our good practice at FASTSIGNS to invest in our staff and in their training.”

FASTSIGNS is one the country’s leading graphic design and branding specialists and has a reputation for leading the way in its field.

The firm offers comprehensive solutions with one point of contact and prides itself on the fact that customers can expect an unrivalled offering which includes the ability to manage any project from the original concept stage right through to its completion. The promise of excellent customer service, consultation and project management at every step of the process combines to make an unbeatable package.
