DDA Compliance

Are You In Compliance With The DDA?

Did you know that U.K. companies are required by law to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA)?

The purpose of the DDA is to prevent service providers treating people with disabilities less favourably than other customers or employees.

From 1st October 2004 businesses and organisations have had to make "reasonable adjustments" to tackle physical features that act as a barrier to disabled people who want access to their services.

Examples include:

  • putting in a ramp to replace steps
  • providing large, well defined signs for visually impaired people
  • improving access to toilet and washroom facilities
