How long have you worked in the print industry?

I have worked in the industry for more than 15 years, before then I applied my trade in many areas from a Mechanic to an owner of a fast food Outlet.

What’s the most memorable project you’ve worked on at Fastsigns?

I have worked on many projects during my time with Fastsigns Peterborough, however, the complete rebrand of Burghley House is a favourite. A historic site in Stamford, we produced over 70 different signs, graphics and car decals. Working alongside a design agency who created the artwork, we produced fantastic and impactful signage for the estate.

What is your favourite holiday destination?

Here in the UK, I really enjoy visiting the Suffolk coast, it's a very beautiful place. However, my favourite travel abroad is to the very beautiful European country of Italy. Italy is steeped in culture and fantastic scenery but just as important to us as a family is the amazing food and wine on offer in every street.

Do you have a favourite Film?

This is quite a hard question for me, as I really don't watch a lot of films, however, it has to be The Longest Day, an epic American war film based on Cornelius Ryan’s 1959 book about the D-Day landings at Normandy.

The Longest Day featured a large cast including John Wayne, Kenneth Moore, Richard Todd and Sean Connery to name a few. The film won two Academy Awards and was nominated for three others. A definite one to watch Kerry!

What is your favourite thing about your role at FASTSIGNS?

Sounds cheesy... but I get my biggest buzz from happy customers. When clients are happy with our work and the service that we provide, then we have done our job correctly.

What’s the most memorable project you’ve worked on in your career?

I am a huge fan of Formula 1 and at the tail end of the 1980’s, I was manufacturing and (sometimes) installing the race car and transporter graphics to the Camel Team Lotus Honda for the 99T car, when the driver pairing was Ayrton Senna and Satoru Nakajima. My first job for Lotus was to install vinyl graphics on Senna’s racing helmet.

Around that time I became a sales person and went out on the road to sell to both Team Lotus and Braun Tyrrell Honda. I always found those calls to be the most glamorous.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I play guitar, largely for relaxation. But, over lockdown, I challenged myself to learn to play and sing simultaneously. I even recorded some songs and unleashed them to the world on Facebook and YouTube. Sorry to anyone that saw my little videos, but I enjoyed it!

    Favourite Artist

I love Pop-Art. My favourite artist and a personal hero of mine is Sir Peter Blake, famous for designing The Beatles ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ LP cover. I was fortunate enough to meet him a few years ago and he is a true gentleman as well as being a fabulous artist. I am very lucky to have a few pieces of his work in my small collection.

How long have you worked at Fastsigns?

I have only been employed by Fastsigns for one month, so very early days in my role but I hope to achieve increased brand awareness using social media and brand marketing channels within the next 12 months.

What’s the most memorable brand you have worked on?

Having worked on many brands over the last 20 years, my all time favourite was MATCH!, a childrens football magazine in its early days selling over 250,000 copies per week. From a magazine to a TV show featuring Harry Rednapp, the team's hard work and sheer determination made this brand come alive and it's one very close to my heart.

What do you like to do outside of work?

My hobbies outside of work revolve around sport including coaching and umpiring Netball, I love coaching netball, to watch 11 year olds progress into 16 year old netballers playing at a very high standard is something I am passionate about and proud of.

My weekends are taken up watching my own superstar (son) play football and working at Peterborough United Football club on match days.

What football team do you follow?

When I was a child, I still remember to this day, my Dad giving me a football talk and then gave me a choice, the same choice I later gave my younger brother, “you can support Tottenham Hotspur or Spurs”, all excited and clearly not knowing any different, I chose Spurs and then went onto spend many years of ups and downs at White Hart Lane, mostly downs to be fair, but I have seen some amazing players grace the hallowed turf over time.

What is your favourite thing about your role at FASTSIGNS?

I really enjoy being out on site, fitting the graphics and signage and seeing the finished article. It’s nice to be able to see a job through from creative to print to installation.

What print job is the hardest to do?

I have not come across anything I have found too difficult to do. Thankfully, I always have Richard who has vast experience on hand to advise and coach when I need support. . However, my worst trait is I procrastinate when it comes to plotting out the jobs as it’s my least favorite task to do.

If you had a super hero power what would it be and why?

Ooh so many choices, I think if I could, I would really like to be invisible. I am not sure I would use the power of invisibility for the greater good, but I would certainly have a lot of fun and become very rich.

    Favourite Film?

I am a huge fan of Al Pacino films and Calito’s Way is my favourite by far. An American crime film based on the books I have not yet read Carlito’s Way and After Hours.

The film stars Pacino as Carlito Brigante, a criminal who vows to go straight and to retire in paradise. However, his past proves difficult to escape, and he unwittingly ends up being dragged into the same activities that got him imprisoned in the first place.

A great watch and one I have seen many times.
