Student Quiet Room at Garforth Academy
Garforth Academy was looking to improve the wellbeing of students by creating a new student quiet room.
Ahead of the project, the school had been reaching out to local businesses. We saw this as a great opportunity to be involved in the local community and offered to provide graphics at no cost.
The plan was to design, print and install a series of digitally printed vinyl wall graphics to decorate the space and add to the relaxing atmosphere. It would be a calming space for students to go and get away from the pressures of school life.
We needed to factor in the room’s space limitations and existing colour scheme, including furnishings and fittings. To do this, we used pastel colours and kept everything understated. For the designs, we selected compact, geometric shapes and patterns. These were placed alongside inspirational quotes and images to create a positive, uplifting message.
The graphics were successfully installed and the contrast between the text, images, colour and shape works brilliantly. The feedback we received is the graphics are an invaluable part of making the quiet room a worthwhile space for pupils.
This is an especially pleasing result for us because designer, Vinny, who co-worked on the project, actually attended Garforth Academy in the 90’s and has fond memories of his time there. Director Andy’s sons currently attend the Academy and one of them, Jack, helped Vinny with the installation.
Sarah Garnsey at Garforth Academy who oversaw the quiet room project said:
“FASTSIGNS® Leeds was great to work with. The team were efficient throughout and always quick to respond. They led the design ideas and the results are great! Following a quick installation, the graphics look really professional and are of superb quality. I would definitely recommend FASTSIGNS® Leeds - in fact, I already have - for their professionalism and generosity of time. The whole process was impressive.”
