Nursery Wall Graphics and Signage Installation in Ashington, West Sussex

The Challenge

Ashington Day Nursery required a series of nursery wall graphics to enhance multiple learning spaces within the setting while aligning with the wider branding of the iStep Learning Group.

As part of an established group of nurseries, the branding guidelines were already in place. However, each location requires graphics to be customised to suit the specific rooms, layouts, and wall spaces, meaning all artwork needed to be carefully adapted for this site.

FASTSIGNS® Tunbridge Wells were tasked with designing, producing, and installing a variety of education wall graphics in West Sussex across the preschool, toddler, and baby rooms, as well as external signage for the staff parking area.

A key challenge for this project was the variety of wall textures throughout the nursery. To ensure a reliable and long-lasting application, the correct material choice was essential.

Another major challenge was the installation of graphics on a large, high-level wall within the main room. Access required the use of a scaffold tower, and due to the nursery’s daily schedule, the team had a strict time window before children returned for lunch. Within approximately 1.5 hours, the team needed to assemble the scaffold, measure and apply the graphics, and safely dismantle the structure.

The Solution

FASTSIGNS® designed a series of text-based wall graphics in line with the iStep Learning Group branding, tailored specifically to the rooms and layout of Ashington Day Nursery.

The graphics were produced using high-tack MD5A vinyl with a matt laminate, selected specifically to ensure strong adhesion across the various wall textures found throughout the site. This material choice helped eliminate potential issues during installation and ensured a durable finish suitable for a busy nursery environment.

The project included multiple graphic sizes, such as:

These were installed across the preschool, toddler, and baby rooms, with clear, easy-to-read text and directional elements to support the learning environment.
For the external area, we produced and installed a 300mm x 400mm ACM sign with rounded corners for the staff parking gate. The sign was printed using MD5A vinyl with a matt laminate and mounted using a rail system fixed to the back of the panel with metal-to-metal tape and primer. This allowed the sign to be securely attached to the gate posts using a mounting kit.

Installation was completed in a single visit by a three-person team, working efficiently to meet the site’s time constraints. The scaffold tower was erected, used for installation, and dismantled within the limited access window before children returned.

The Result

The completed project provides Ashington Day Nursery with clear, consistent, and professionally installed nursery wall graphics and signage across both internal and external areas.

The use of high-tack materials ensured a reliable application across varied surfaces, while the customised designs help reinforce branding and improve.
