Today, we are looking back at some previous projects that we have completed in the education industry and how we positively impacted those schools through the power of sign making.
Venn Academy
In this project, we worked closely with the Yorkshire-based Venn Academy to produce this acrylic indoor sign. Serving as a greeting to their dining hall, this solution is very supportive as a wayfinding tool around the school premises, with acrylic pockets attached to the front to display relevant information. The use of acrylic material here makes the sign lightweight and look glossy, providing a more cost-effective, durable option to glass which is easy to install and maintain long-term. Using this substrate also allows for variations in transparency options and potential LED compatibility for the customer, ensuring flexibility when deciding the specifics for the school sign.
This task was completed by including standoffs in each corner, ensuring the signage was ready to be installed on a wall appropriate to the customer’s needs. These standoffs provide a 3D, modern appearance for the visual solution on display, further making it easy to remove and reinstall if required by the school.
Molescroft Primary School & Parish Centre
Another project we have carried out was for Molescroft Primary School, located in Beverley, which focused on creating and installing some new 3D, back-lit lettering to the front of the building. This outdoor sign would help to display their name to staff, children and visitors on site, evoking a sense of identity for the premises. The use of lettering here reinforces that fact, depicting an eye-catching design that looks professional, upholding the school’s image. In addition, the mirrored ACM substrate ensures reflectivity and a weather-resistant signage solution, much safer than using glass which could easily break or shatter and cause a hazard to the customer.
Similar to the previous project, the letters were installed using standoffs, again providing a dimensional display and allowing the signage to standout. This solution was also back-lit, allowing it to be visible at night, therefore presenting a suitable and consistent outdoor wayfinding option for the centre.
Broadacre Primary School
The final case study we are looking into is from Broadacre Primary School, another Hull-based school that required an array of ‘foamex’ signs to be installed across the inside of their facility. This would help to enhance the identity and theme of their site, bringing them under one modern-looking and professional brand. These signage solutions were developed through edge-trimmed foamex panels, a type of PVC which is lightweight but also strong and resistant to damage, making it very fitting for long-term indoor applications. Plus, this helps to make it versatile across various uses, as shown in this project where foamex panels have been installed in multiple locations on the school premises.
The result saw our trusted sign makers create effective, tailored solutions for the school, including local Hull references to key historical figures to help promote that unique belonging to the East Yorkshire area. The printability of foamex here also fulfills our customer’s need for presentable and detailed signage, being able to display key information to staff and students to a high-quality standard.
