CMT Trading Estate

CMT Trading Estate sought to enhance the visibility and functionality of their entrance with a Totem Sign that would clearly communicate estate information.

The Challenge

The project presented several challenges, including balancing aesthetic appeal with informative functionality. Midway adjustments, such as incorporating a custom vinyl overlay map, necessitated flexibility and quick adaptation. Additionally, the installation was complicated due to underground utilities, requiring precise scanning and careful manoeuvring to avoid disrupting existing electric, gas and water lines.

The lighting was also low in the trading estate due to a lack of street lighting, meaning an option for illuminating the sign was needed.

The Solution

FASTSIGNS crafted a towering directory sign using individual acrylic-mounted panels, seamlessly arranged to align with CMT Trading Estate’s brand aesthetic. The vibrant red vinyl and subtle grey colour scheme ensured maximum impact and visibility from a distance. When CMT requested the addition of a custom vinyl overlay map after the project was underway, we seamlessly integrated this feature, showcasing our flexibility and commitment to client satisfaction.

We added a trough light, powder coated to the same colour and finish as the sign, mounted on top of the panel, shining down onto the directory.

For installation, we faced challenges with pipes underground, to combat this. We utilized advanced scanning technology to precisely map out underground utilities, ensuring no disruption to essential services. This careful planning and precision installation underscored our commitment to quality and safety.

The Result

The installation of the staggering 5.5 metre Totem Sign at CMT Trading Estate beautifully merges functionality with high-impact design. The towering structure not only aids in wayfinding but also serves as a key landmark for the area. Our ability to adapt and incorporate additional features like the custom map mid-project further demonstrated our dedication to exceeding client expectations.
