Large-Scale Signs and Graphics Project

The Challenge:

Donaldson Filter Components Ltd is a UK manufacturing subsidiary of the global Donaldson Company. With a base in Hull, England, the business designs and produces high-performance filtration systems. Having previously not had any internal company branding, Donaldson required various signs and graphics to be created and installed on their East Yorkshire site, to keep in line with their international corporate identity.

Working closely with the manufacturer, we solved their large-scale signage challenge by delivering a complete, multi-phase interior branding transformation. Combining custom high-impact wall graphics, dimensional 3D lettering, and durable acrylic panelling, we transformed their interior appearance across boardroom, reception, and main corridor spaces.

The Solution:

With various signs and graphics to provide, our friendly FASTSIGNS Hull experts carried out a site visit to closely understand Donaldson’s interior requirements. From our first touchpoints, it was clear that this signage project would require multiple phases to ensure a fully-satisfactory result, specifying all details across our quotes for effective, consistent collaboration. This was vital to ensure no aspects were accidentally omitted, making sure Donaldson’s were clear on all our procedures and preventing any miscommunication, before giving the go ahead.

Using both Donaldson’s ideas and our own visual expertise, we produced various concepts for client approval, which met the business’ signage requirements. Following any amendments based on feedback from Donaldson’s, these designs were ready to be brought to life by our expert production team.

Phase 1: Boardroom

Right Wall Deliverables:

6 x Acrylic Display Panels: 5mm clear acrylic signs with high-definition vinyl print and protective laminate, mounted on stand-off fixings.

6 x Foamex Info Panels: 5mm rigid foamex panels for clean informational displays.

3D Dimensional Logo: Precision fret-cut 10mm foamex logo, featuring printed and laminated vinyl facing for a professional appearance.

Custom Wall Graphic Lettering: Fret-cut vinyl text applied directly to the wall surface for maximum impact.

Left Wall Deliverables:

Feature Wall Graphic: A seamless 7800mm x 2400mm high-tack wall vinyl mural, finished with a durable matte laminate for easy, anti-glare visibility.

Design and installation services were critical for all phase 1 signs and graphics, providing Donaldson’s with an efficient, end-to-end signage service which met all their requirements.

Phase 2: Ongoing Reception & Corridor Project

Signs & Graphics Relocation: Safely moving and reinstalling the existing focal portrait of Frank Donaldson, to a central position at the front of reception.

3D Architectural Branding: Left Wall, 1 x fret-cut 10mm foamex 3D logo, featuring a small white "D" with laminated vinyl finishing.

Phase 2 before new acrylic panel timeline. Fret-cut wall vinyl quote graphic currently installed.

Right Wall: 1 x fret-cut 10mm foamex 3D logo featuring a large blue "D" with extended writing graphics spanning across the wall.

Corridor Display Panels: 2 x custom acrylic signs (1000mm x 1000mm) installed along the walkway.

Company Timeline Display: 3 x 5mm acrylic panels (1200mm x 1200mm each) with laminated vinyl graphics mounted on stand-off fixings, creating a continuous 3.6-metre visual timeline feature.
