Ocado Café Signage “The Fig”

The Challenge

Ocado approached FASTSIGNS to assist them with the interior décor in their café area, situated on the ground floor of their head office building. Having a clear idea of the aesthetics required, Ocado wanted the space to be clean, modern, welcoming and "funky", without being overstated. They requested some illuminated features, directional signage, site identification and furniture decor. Although Ocado knew the style they wanted to achieve, they required our signage experts to produce concept ideas for design, style, signage type and materials, helping them envisage how their blank canvas could be developed through signage, before committing to a final signage solution.

The Solution

Our in-house designer worked closely with the project manager and design teams, considering the customer's available futures and fittings to produce several concept designs for the interior décor signage. The ideas incorporated illuminated signage, vinyl wall graphics, and entrance and exit signage, plus décor features for the payment areas and self-service fridge cabinets. Once a concept had been selected by Ocado’s team, FASTSIGNS worked to develop the final visuals, producing 2 LED-neon feature signs as well as a ‘chalkboard’ style finish for the wall vinyl and location identification signage, which was produced from
5mm PVC foam.

The Result

Having had an overall outline for how the signage should look, but being unable to envisage exactly what that was, the end result for the client was exactly what the client had envisioned. Having taken the client through a number of design concepts, they were able to identify exactly what they wanted. When the finished signage was installed, the signs helped create a modern, warm and welcoming atmosphere where staff could step away from their workstations, relax and enjoy the food and company of their colleagues.
