A year in review with Andy

In an ever-evolving world of signs and graphics, the team at FASTSIGNS Leeds has navigated challenges and celebrated many successes over the past year. We caught up with Andy Simpson, Director at FASTSIGNS Leeds, to find out more about the milestones, exciting projects and stand-out trends that have defined 2023.

Reflecting on 2023, how was the year for FASTSIGNS Leeds?

It has been a good year all in all. Like any business, we’ve had some tough periods this year, but overall business activity has stayed strong with lots of enquiries coming into the business.

Were there any highlights or standout projects this year?

Working with Leeds 2023 on various projects was nice as we got to constantly see the graphics around the centre of Leeds. Leeds 2023 is a year-long festival dedicated to art and culture in Leeds, so it’s been a really exciting project to be part of.

We also installed all the signs at a new, large student accommodation block for GMI construction and Unipol. This was a challenging project at times, but the signs look great in situ. The accommodation looks fantastic overall – student accommodation is certainly very different to when I was at Sheffield University in the 90s!

Have there been any team changes or new recruits you want to highlight?

Tom joined us in August as an Account Manager, which means he’s often the first port of call for customers looking for new signs. He is settling in really well and will be a valuable asset to the team.

What were the biggest challenges the team faced in 2023, and how were they overcome?

The biggest challenges were the same as always – the planning stage of installation, which can be a challenge. However, our online installation portal helps a lot with the planning. And as always, teamwork and great communication are key to staying organised and ensuring installations run smoothly.

What were the most sought-after products this year?

Internal wall graphics are still very much in favour this year. We’re seeing a lot of companies wanting to make their office spaces more appealing and make a statement through eye-catching wall graphics. It’s a great, simple way for business owners to create a more attractive and inspiring workspace for their employees, and it doesn’t have to be a huge expense.

As we go into 2024, are there any exciting projects on the horizon for FASTSIGNS Leeds?

We are working on a nice project at Headingley Stadium for Leeds Rhinos – more details to follow so watch this space!

Are there any consumer trends or preferences that you think will be big in 2024?

I think that people will want to use more sustainable products. We are already stocking various card products that can easily be disposed of in green recycling bins and will continue to look at other sustainable products to recommend to our customers.

Thanks Andy!

As we say farewell to 2023, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all the customers we worked with throughout the year. We hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and New Year, and we’re looking forward to working with you on more signs and graphics in 2024.
