Milner Hotel
Traditional Craftsmanship Meets Modern Identity for a Historic Hotel Rebrand

The Challenge
The Milner Hotel, a historic destination known for its traditional charm, underwent a rebranding and required new internal signage that reflected their modern brand colours, without clashing with the building’s classic architecture. A further challenge was that the outdated signs were bonded to high-end wallpaper. The team needed to remove and replace the signs, while protecting the hotel’s interior assets. Furthermore, because the hotel remained operational, all work had to be conducted with minimal disruption to the guest experience, requiring a discreet installation timeline.
The Solution
The FASTSIGNS® team conducted a site survey, to map out a navigation strategy that would streamline the guest journey. To bridge the gap between the hotel’s existing traditional charm and new, modern branding, the team designed laser-engraved oak panels, painted in the hotel's new signature blue and amber palette. These directional signs now guide guests through the corridors, blending tactile wood textures with vibrant, modern tones.

Branded planters were also provided to enhance the hotel’s exterior presence and cohesive signage was provided for the health club, bar and restaurant to ensure brand consistency across all facilities. To celebrate the hotel’s heritage, custom acrylic timeline panels were also designed and installed.
The Result
The transformation aligned The Milner Hotel’s physical environment with its refreshed brand vision. By replacing dated markers with new, wooden visuals, the hotel reinforced its premium positioning, while improving guests' ease of navigation. The careful installation preserved the integrity of the hotel’s décor and the range of signs created a unified, professional atmosphere. These updates have modernised the hotel in a way that respects the historic soul of the building.
